Review of China Refining Market in May 2013

 

News Spot:

 

China announced Jun 6 that it will lower the retail prices of gasoline and diesel by 95 yuan and 90 yuan per mt, effective from Jun 7.

 

The benchmark retail price of gasoline will be lowered by 0.07 yuan per liter and diesel by 0.08 yuan per liter, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said.

 

Crude Refining:

 

China’s major refineries were running at an average rate of 84.3% on Jun 13, up by 0.14 percentage points from two weeks ago. Part of the refineries maintained steady operating rates, and the others recorded slim changes in their operating rates.

 

Crude:

 

The Middle East is the only crude supplier increasing its crude supply to China in the first four months of this year.

 

China imported 47.47 -mil mt of crude from the Middle East in January-April, up by 7.94% from the same period last year. The volume accounted for 51.56% of China’s total crude imports in the period.
